The Howick Local Board has voted to provide funding of more than $160,000 to numerous community organisations, groups and sports clubs across east Auckland and the wider city.

Its members discussed and voted on the more than 50 funding requests at a recent business meeting.

The single largest amount the board approved was $20,000 for Howick Little Theatre toward the cost of replacing its roof.

The theatre had asked the board for $60,000.

The next single highest funding request approved was $10,000.

That amount will go to the Howick and Districts Historical Society for scaffolding, mould removal and painting; Auckland Badminton Association toward the cost of badminton nets, shuttlecocks and venue hire; and Howick Hornets Rugby League for new windows.

The Scout Association of New Zealand – Howick asked the board for, and will receive, $9,484.36 toward the cost of nine kayaks and paddles.
