We seek a dynamic, enthusiastic, and adaptable Learning Assistant (support staff) to join our learning support team at Elm Park School. We are a Year 1 to Year 6 school.
We are looking for an individual who demonstrates a high level of empathy, has a positive attitude, and is passionate about working with and supporting tamariki with learning and behavioural needs.
Ideally, you would:
- Be patient, energetic, fit, resilient, and be able to think on your feet.
- Be a team player and able to collaborate with the wider team, working and supporting the children.
- Be a calm and positive person with experience working with children.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assist teachers in implementing learning support programmes.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support in and out of the classroom with children with behavioural needs, helping them navigate social and emotional challenges
- Actively engaging with tamariki at break times through a range of sports and activities
- Work as part of the learning support team for the wider school community
This fixed-term position starts as soon as possible and ends on 16th December 2025. (Potentially will continue for 2026 for the right person) The work hours will be 9 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday, during school term only. All applicants must be able to work in a school and have a good level of English and NZ residency.
Support Staff Collective Contract determines grade and step for pay.
