Police say a 38-year-old man will appear in court charged with intentional damage and possession of an offensive weapon following an incident in east Auckland yesterday, August 28.
At about 12.40pm, police received a report of a road-rage incident near Pakuranga Plaza.
“No one was injured, however one vehicle sustained minor damage,” a police spokesperson says.
“The man will appear in the Manukau District Court on September 3.”
A video of the incident shows it involved people in two vehicles, a Suzuki Swift and a Mazda SUV.
A female passenger from the Mazda is outside the vehicle and speaking to the driver of the Suzuki as both vehicles are in Pennell Place near the Pakuranga Plaza car park.
She walks back towards the Mazda as the driver of the Suzuki moves that vehicle forward, positioning it behind the Mazda.
The female passenger of the Mazda gets into the vehicle and the Mazda’s male driver reverses it toward the Suzuki.
The male driver of the Mazda then gets out of the vehicle, approaches the driver’s side of the Suzuki and appears to strike the vehicle three times with an object.
The Mazda’s female passenger gets out of the vehicle and appears to speak to him.
They both then get back into the Mazda vehicle and drive away from the scene.
People who witnessed the incident contacted security guards at Pakuranga Plaza, who arrived and spoke to the upset driver of the Suzuki Swift.
