Police say a person has died following an historic crash that happened in east Auckland on December 28 last year.
Emergency services responded to reports of a serious crash between a vehicle and motorbike at the intersection of Pakuranga Road and Stanniland Street in Pakuranga Heights at about 8.50am.
“Initially, the motorbike rider was transported to hospital in a critical condition and has subsequently died from his injuries,” police say.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
Police say the injured motorbike rider died yesterday, August 3.
On the day the crash happened, police said the injured man had been transported to hospital and was in a critical condition after undergoing surgery.
The police’s serious crash unit attended the scene and motorists were asked to avoid using Pakuranga Road if possible.
A spokesperson for Hato Jone St John Ambulance said the organisation was notified of the incident on 8.51am.
“We responded with one ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and an operations manager.”
