Investigation into cause of house fire begins

Counties Manukau Police say they will today examine the scene of a house fire at Bucklands Beach-Eastern Beach last night.

The fire was “well involved” by the time Fire and Emergency NZ crews arrived around 9pm at the Bucklands Beach Road residential property near the intersection with Eastern Beach Road, police say.

There were no reports of injury, police told the Times today, June 12.

“Two scene guards remained in place overnight pending further investigations today,” police say.

Fire and Emergency has confirmed today to the Times: “The fire cause is being investigated.

“FENZ was alerted to a house fire in Bucklands Beach at 8.42pm on Wednesday evening.

“Five trucks attended from Howick, Mt Wellington, and Otara stations, and the fire was fully extinguished and all the trucks had left by 11.30pm,” FENZ says.
