Three kayakers have been rescued after getting into trouble in water off an east Auckland beach this morning.
Police and Hato Hone St John paramedics responded to the incident.
A police spokesperson says: “Police rescued three kayakers after they got into difficulty off Eastern Beach this morning.
“A call was made at 11.15am by one of the kayakers.
“Eagle was dispatched and soon located two people in the water and one clinging to the sinking kayak. All three were wearing life jackets.
“Eagle remained hovering overhead while a Pine Harbour Ferry diverted and kept watch.
“Maritime police rescued the trio from the water a short time later.
“They were all very cold and taken to the boat ramp at Eastern Beach boat where ambulance staff were waiting to assist.”
A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John told the Times it was notified of a water incident at Eastern Beach at 11.08am today, May 20.
“One ambulance and one operations manager responded.
“Three patients, in minor to moderate conditions, were assessed and treated at the scene, with no transport required.”
