Auckland City Police are appealing to the public for information after an unattended kayak was found near Beachlands this morning.
At about 7.22am today, January 28, a member of the public alerted police that an unoccupied blue and green kayak could be seen floating in the water in the Tamaki straight between Omana Beach and Beachlands.
“On the kayak is a paddle, chilly bin and a torch mounted on the front indicating that it was possibly used in the dark,” police say.
“Police are hopeful the occupant of the kayak made it to shore safely but would like to hear from anyone who recognises it.
“Please contact police via 111 and use the reference number P065269878.”
