Music in Parks – Pasifika

Lloyd Elsmore Park in Pakuranga hosts an Auckland Council Music in Parks Pasifika concert from 6pm to 8.30pm on Saturday, January 17. It features performances by Pacific Music Awards Acts in the genres of funk, pop, and rock. There’s limited mobility parking and the concert is smoke-free and alcohol-free. Since 2005, the annual Pacific Music Awards have celebrated excellence in Pacific music in New Zealand, honouring musicians from the Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Samoa, Tonga, Tokelau, and Tuvalu.

Gymnastics in the Park

The Howick Gymnastic Club, with support from the Howick Local Board, presents the free Gymnastics in the Park at Macleans Park in Bucklands Beach from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, January 31. The focus will be on the basic areas of gymnastics with an exciting 30-minute circuit programme giving children a chance to get their first introduction to gymnastics, with balance beams, trampolines, hula hoops and much more. Parents of younger children are asked to help their child around whilst older children will find their own way. Each session has a quick warm-up followed by the circuit of a range of activities to get your child moving.

Bucklands Beach Craft and Wellness Market

This popular market from 10am to 3pm on Saturdays at the Bucklands Beach War Memorial Hall. The next dates are January 17 followed by February 7. A wide range of popular stalls are taking part and there’s new stalls joining. Entry is free and it’s the place to go for wellness, crafts, candles, crystals, readers, healers, reiki, skincare, jewellery, massage, coffee, food, gifts, ear-candling, New Zealand-made products and more.

Free Zumba at Barry Curtis Park

People are invited to take part in free one-hour Zumba sessions at Barry Curtis Park in Flat Bush from 6am to 7pm every Tuesday until March 31. Get ready to move, groove and feel the rhythm with OC Unleashed, bringing you free Zumba sessions all summer long, thanks to the support of the Howick Local Board. Bring your friends, family, or come solo, everyone’s welcome. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just looking for a fun way to get active, Zumba is all about the energy, music and community vibes. No registration needed, just show up. Don’t forget your water bottle, comfy clothes and your best dance moves.
