The man accused of murdering an east Auckland father and son whose bodies were found following a house fire can now be named.
Jaeyoung Jang, 38, has pleaded not guilty to the crime during an appearance in the Auckland High Court earlier this week.
He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to go on trial in February, 2017.
The bodies of the victims, Jung Sup Lee, 36, and his son, Ha-il Lee, were found in their house in Murvale Drive in Bucklands Beach after it was damaged in a blaze police allege was deliberately lit on October 2.
Three other people at the property survived.
Following an investigation of the incident, Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Va’aelua of Counties Manukau Police’s criminal investigation branch said an accelerant had been found at the scene.
A Givealittle fundraising page has been established to support the family of the father and son who died in the fire.
