Those who went out this week enjoyed yet another wonderful winter fishing experience! Snapper are to be had in the shallows, with an assortment of tactics working.

Slow jigging and soft baiting has been the top pick for most anglers. There are some amazing micro jigs on the market and they look and move through the water so well, they are hard for Snapper, Kahawai and Kingfish to resist.

Come in store and check out the impressive range of slow jigs and soft baits that could be catching you your next feed or your next PB!

Areas like The Noises, Izzy Bay and even just off Eastern Beach have been providing rather impressive specimens of Snapper, Gurnard and Kahawai for the dinner table. Down the bottom end of Waiheke Island has also been a plentiful area to land some big Snapper. Fish after fish around Pakatoa Island have been landed by many a happy angler, all around the 15lb mark!

Big baits are best in this area, and again you don’t have to be in deep water to catch these fish. We might be feeling the cold, but the fish are still enjoying warm water, which means they’re still feeding hard. Our boxes of Mackerel have been doing the trick and at $20 for 5kgs you cant go wrong.

You can check out our FaceBook page for weekly deals, tips and tricks, search The Big Fish Bait and Tackle co.

Top baits: Mackerel, Pilchard and Mullet

Until next week, Tight Lines
