HPK top junior club in NZ

The Howick Pakuranga Swim Club put on a dominant display recently at the annual Junior Festival Championships.

Competition was fierce among the 400 swimmers, however HPK still walked away with 68 medals in total as well as claiming the title of top club for another year.

Club captain Ella Crowe secured the first gold medal of the meet by dominating the 400m freestyle to win by more than 10 seconds. Not to be outdone, the club’s top male swimmer Chris Jiang repeated the feat by taking out the boys 400m freestyle by more than 10 seconds, rocketing HPK to lead over the competition after just two events.

There were some stand-out swimmers over the weekend, including Mulan Chan See with 12 golds and one silver, Ella Crowe with four gold, five silver and three bronze and Chris Jiang who dominated his age group with eight gold, five silver and a bronze. These swimmers went on to win their age groups and rank first in New Zealand.

Other medallists include Miandi Oosthuizen, Anna Ye, Julian Ling, Taanmay Annappa, Danielle Asiata, Daniel Cieplinski, Ezanda Green, Eric Yang and Daniel Loh.

It was another very successful year for the Howick Pakuranga Swimming Club which once again proved to be the top junior club in New Zealand.
