Mission Heights Junior College (MHJC) will soon have three new cricket nets.

The nets will be the end product of months of planning and work between parents, teachers and Auckland Cricket.

This exciting new addition to the sports facilities at the college will help further support and develop the students’ passion for cricket.

The success of the Black Caps and White Ferns on the international scene has sparked plenty of interest in the school community.

MHJC has nearly doubled its cricket playing numbers this year with the addition of two new girls teams.

Year 7/8 girls are now playing in the Blitz competition and the year 9/10 team is playing local fixtures against Ormiston Junior College.

The boys Colts team is continuing to lead the way in terms of performance, having recently been promoted to the afternoon Colts Grade competition and have had three wins over traditionally strong cricket schools Westlake Boys High School, St Kentigern College, Macleans College and a narrow loss to King’s College.

The other boys Blitz team started their season with a narrow loss to De La Salle and a win over Pakuranga College.
