This year marks the 85th Farmers Santa Parade and is the largest annual community event in Auckland. The grand spectacle will be held on Sunday, November 25.

The parade was started in 1934 by Farmers as a gift of fantasy and fun for the children of Auckland and an astonishing 3500 plus participants and volunteers bring the incredible parade to life each year.

Organised by Howick local Pam Glaser for the last two decades, the parade features eye-catching pageantry, fun and surprises that have made this annual Auckland City extravaganza, a perennial favourite.

Heralding the start of the festive season, this historic holiday parade features colourful grand floats representing the cultural diversity of Auckland, lively marching bands, amazing character balloons, only topped by an appearance by Santa on a grand float.

There will be grand floats, pageantry and plenty of performances at the Farmers Santa Parade in Queen Street. Photos supplied.

There’s more fun to be had after the parade with Santa’s Party at Aotea Square including live performances from the likes of PAW Patrol and more.

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy giant inflatables are being joined by Thomas the Tank Engine, a new Beginning of Time Dinosaur float, new Nutcracker Float, the Lost Boys, entertainment groups galore and Santa himself!

You can even get free parking in the city, at Auckland Transport Downtown and Victoria Street Car Parks if you exit the car park between 1pm and 6pm on Parade day.

If you’re driving, do arrive before 11.30am to avoid traffic and road closures or catch a bus or train.

If it rains, the alternate date is Sunday, December 2.
