The 2018 census has just been completed and it will be interesting to see how the numbers have changed and speculate the impact for business growth in the Howick Local Board region.
The numbers from 2013 showed the region has more residents who have higher incomes than other parts of New Zealand.
Five years ago, residents had more cars per household, they were more highly educated, and they were more likely to work in professional, management, admin and sales roles.
Business buddy CEO, Kirsten Hawke says continued growth and development in the Howick ward presents business owners with opportunities as well as challenges.
“Finding the right staff, coping with new competition and even inefficiencies caused by traffic woes, all impact on local businesses,” says Hawke.
“We’ve all heard about working on your business rather than in it, but the reality is many business owners struggle to find the time.”
At 4.6 per cent, unemployment is at its lowest level in many years and 2018 looks promising for the New Zealand economy, but it can also be challenging for growing businesses.
“With increasing competition and population growth — if they keep doing the same as they have always done — they can expect less from their business.”
“The most successful businesses constantly review performance and plan future direction, considering the changing business environment.”
To support, inspire and challenge local businesses the East Tamaki company is hosting 7 ways to grow your business at their HQ on Wednesday May 9.
“We will cover the seven key areas in your business that you can influence and the strategies you can adopt to achieve growth,” says Hawke.
“Entrepreneurs will look at their business like they never have before, and they will be challenged to adapt.
“The 90-minute event will help you understand the mindset change required to succeed in a changing business landscape,” says Hawke.
7 ways to grow your business is at 35 Allens Road, East Tamaki from 4.10pm -5.40pm on Wednesday May 9, 2018.
Refreshments will be available, and every guest goes in the draw to win a door prize.
