Jeff Crowe Cup (limited overs Auckland club championship), semi-final round two last Sunday: Howick Pakuranga captain Jamie Newth scored 99 for the second week and it was his innings that set up his side’s victory against Takapuna at Lloyd Elsmore Park in Pakuranga.
The Takapuna attack put together a disciplined bowling effort, with Josh Stuart (3-28) and James Coughlan (3-36) leading the way. Takapuna came within reach of their target thanks to Stuart (40) and Andrew Niblett (34), but fell 12 runs short. It means Howick Pakuranga still have a chance of defending their title, but they have to overcome Suburbs New Lynn this Sunday.
Howick Pakuranga 200 (Jamie Newth 99, Andrew de Boorder 31, Josh Stuart 3-28, James Coughlan 3-36) defeated Takapuna 188 (Stuart 40, Andrew Niblett 34, Donovan Grobbelaar 3-31) by 12 runs.
