Crowds gathered while scores of children at Pakuranga Heights School displayed their heritage at a cultural evening.
The performances started with a kapa haka display and welcome from the school’s principal Vaughan van Rensburg.
Indian and Hawaiian dances followed, along with a Filipino pole-dancing performance, Scottish dancing, a We Are The World parade and a Chinese dragon dance.
And the local community rallied around by donating food and organising stalls.
“It’s a celebration of our huge range of cultures, and fabulously diverse school,” says Mr van Rensburg.
“All staff and children were enthusiastic, and there was lots of rehearsing.
“It’s all about bringing our community together, and celebrating diversity and culture.”
