• Howick and Pakuranga Times SWASHBUCKLING pirates, fairy princesses and other characters have been on show in a school parade.
Students at Pakuranga Heights celebrated imagination and the joy of reading during its book week.
Children participated in reading activities, including buddy reading, competitions and author studies.
They dressed up as their favourite book characters and marched around the school at the end of the week of fun.
Grandparents and other special visitors were invited to attend the parade, which had a fairytale and fantasy theme. “It’s a great chance to celebrate reading and bring our community together,” says deputy principal Helen French. “The focus is on fun and the enjoyment of reading.”
