At 11am, rock n’ rollers, sports clubs and even tiny-tots from preschools will be spreading Christmas spirit along with many loyal parade supporters who’ve been part of the action for years. Local businesses have shown outstanding support helping continue the community tradition.
A parade wouldn’t be a parade without some sweets and this year Pak n’ Save have come to the party with buckets of lollies. Once children have a treat they need to be seated for the parade to safely meander through Howick. Starting on Fencible Drive, the procession moves along Wellington St, Picton St and ends at Cook St.
The highlight of the parade, Santa Claus, has taken some timeout from his workshop at the North Pole to take the reindeer on a training run through Howick. Youngsters need to be on their best behaviour to score some brownie points before Christmas Day arrives.
Parking will be at a premium and families will need to plan walking to their favoured viewpoint. Water, sunscreen and hats will be essentials. The show must go on, so don’t be deterred by inclement weather.
