To enter, vote or just to suss out some of the mouth-watering recipes visit the website www.nzfavouritereipce.co.nz.
To be in with a chance to win simply enter the recipe title, description, ingredients, and directions for cooking, as well as the number of servings it makes and the category. Amateur cooks can enter as many different recipes as they wish.
Voters can also vote for as many different recipes as they wish but can only vote for a recipe ONCE against a valid email address.
The recipe that gets the most votes will win a grand first prize of $5000 in cash.
There are also prizes of $1000 for each category winner, plus 10 more prizes of $1000 for overall runners-up. Anyone who votes or enters a recipe will also be in to win one of 100 grocery vouchers valued at $100 each.
At this point the top two leading recipes are a white chocolate mudcake and an orange chocolate cake coming from Auckland and Christchurch respectively.
New Zealand food writer and chef, Paul Jobin, who is promoting the campaign, says he has been inspired by the obvious passion that Kiwis have for home cooking.
“You can sense the emotional attachment that goes along with so many of these recipes. They are clearly reminders of home and the good times around great home cooked food.”
Jobin encourages New Zealanders to visit the web site and to support those locally flavoured recipes from their particular region.
“If you’re looking for something new to make for dinner tonight, the site is a wonderful source of great recipes that work,” he says.
“What’s more there’s still time to enter your recipes, try out other people’s and get your friends and whanau to vote.”
Full terms and conditions can be viewed at the website, www.nzfavouriterecipe.co.nz.
Entries will be accepted up until October 25. Votes for recipes will continue to be accepted until November 8.
