Cock & Bull is always up for a challenge and yet again the district’s best-known pub is heading confidently into the 2009 $10 Auckland to Queenstown Challenge in support of Cure Kids. But the team needs help!
Last year the pub’s “Buxom Blondes – aka Charmaine Borland and Michele Cadman – topped the fundraising table with more than $27,000 for the cause.
This year, David Mines (Cock & Bull Lynfield) and Alicia Davidson (Cock & Bull Botany) hope to do better. They’re heading out on Wednesday, September 29 as Hans and Hansette, their theme fitting right in with this month’s release of Cock & Bull’s new Rhinefire Oktoberfest beer.
However, before they can leave Hans and Hansette have to find $7000 just to compete in the race. They’re nearly there and are anxious to meet the mark and start the big push to boost their CURE KIDS total ahead of last year.
As always Cock & Bull pubs will all be doing their best to generate support and at Botany, the crew are selling raffle tickets, hosting sausage sizzles and running car washes.
However, the main fundraiser is a CURE KIDS AUCTION on Sunday, September 13 at Botany Cock & Bull.
Marketing manager Michele Cadman says the event desperately needs goods and services that can be auctioned to help raise much-needed dollars for Cure Kids.
Of course, CASH DONATIONS are especially welcome but to make the auction a success Cock & Bull is appealing to Times readers and advertisers to dig deep and come up with the goods.
“Please don’t put this request on the back burner,” Michele says. “Cure Kids is a very worthy charity and we hope local residents and business people will help support us.
“The $10 Challenge has a way of mobilising New Zealand – along route everyone is so generous but we won’t be on route is we don’t meet the initial donation and we won’t be satisfied if we don’t top the donation board.”
If you can help the Cock & Bull team with their auction goods can be sent directly to Michele at Cock & Bull Head Office, 76 Kerwyn Ave, East Tamaki or if you have an enquiry or a service to donate give her a call on 021-244-2444.
