Uplifting, inspiring and energetic – the internationally-acclaimed Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble returns to New Zealand next month for a five city tour.

Bought to New Zealand by Chamber Music New Zealand, in association with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Te Papa Tongarewa and STAMP at THE EDGE®, the group will perform in both Auckland and Manukau. The Auckland concert will be held at the Auckland Town Hall on Saturday, December 8, 7.30pm and the Manukau concert, at the Telstra Clear Pacific Events Centre on Sunday, December 9, 4pm.

Founded by New Zealand viola player Rosemary Nalden, Buskaid is an ensemble of 30 string musicians aged 14-26 from Soweto, South Africa. The ensemble last visited in 2002 and met with tumultuous acclaim from both concert-goers and reviewers.  This time the group will be accompanied by dancers from Capetown-based troupe, Dance for All and appears in New Zealand as part of Encompass, a new initiative by CMNZ to present quality music from around the globe.

Ticket prices: Adults, $35; Children, $10; Family pass (2 adults, 2 children) $80; groups  6 or more $25 each; student rush on the day (ID required) $15. To book the Manukau concert, ph TicketDirect 0800-224-224 or for the Auckland concert ph Ticketek 307-5000.
