Experience Extreme Antarctica FREE of charge
Thursday, 18 October 2007 Two family passes, each for two adults and two children, are up for grabs at Howick & Pakuranga Times giving readers a chance to experience Kelly Tarlton’s new Extreme Antarctica exhibition.
This is the ideal opportunity to experience extreme Antarctic conditions in Kelly Tarlton’s purpose-built wind tunnel and to learn about how humans and animals survive in the coldest place on earth. Marvel at the beauty of the ‘Southern Lights’ and frozen landscapes, while discovering incredible facts about Antarctica’s extreme ice and weather. For instance, did you know that in some parts of Antarctica the ice is more than 4.2 km thick? That’s the height of 12 Sky Towers! And did you also know Antarctica is one of the world’s driest places and classified as a desert? The extreme wildlife section gives visitors a fascinating insight into the penguins, seabirds, krill, whales, and seals that live on and under the ice while a unique Snowcat ride takes them through the colony of King and Gentoo penguin – a rare experience indeed. What’s more, the full-size replica of Captain Robert Scott’s original McMurdo Sound hut is a step back in time. Kelly Tarlton’s Extreme Antarctica Exhibition, (23 Tamaki Drive, Orakei) is open until Sunday, December 16, 2007. Hours are 9am-6pm daily (last entry 5pm). So try your luck in our giveaway draw – you could be a winner. | |||||||||
