Chief executive Alistair Davis and the Toyota team recognise that a widespread transition to hybrid and electric motoring requires an open mind.
“As hybrid and electric cars become the norm, we predict vehicles will become more like electrical appliances, therefore the car’s interface with the electricity system will be extremely important,” Mr Davis says.
“Just as mobile phone plans can sometimes be more important than the device itself, so too could power plans for cars.”
Crystal-ball gazing aside, the tide is turning toward hybrids, according to Davis.
“It took Toyota more than a decade to sell its first million hybrids, while the second million took only a couple of years.
