Taken in by a well-to-do family and offered a second chance at life, a homeless teen grows to become the star athlete projected to be the first pick at the NFL draft in this comedy drama inspired by author Michael Lewis’ best-seller The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game.
Michael Oher was living on the streets when he was welcomed into the home of a conservative suburban family, but over time he matured into a talented athlete. As the NFL draft approached, fans and sports radio personalities speculated that Oher would be the hottest pick of the year.
The Blind Side manages to take an inspiring story and uses it to compose an entertaining and compelling tale with masterful direction and excellent performances from an all-star cast.
Newcomer Quinton Aaron and Bullock deliver heartfelt performances.
Cynical eyes may accuse The Blind Side of targeting the broadest audience possible, and perhaps they have a point. If that’s the case then it does the crowd-pleasing act almost perfectly.
