• Howick and Pakuranga Times
A TREASURE-trove of unwanted former theatre props are up for grabs at a garage sale.
For the first time in its 60-year history, the Howick Little Theatre will put pieces of its past on the market, with funds raised used for new lighting and sound equipment.
As well as raising money, organiser Rae McGregor hopes the sale will create much-needed space in the theatre’s prop and storage rooms.
The Great Green Room Garage Sale – named after the room in which it will be staged – will be held this Sunday from 8am to noon at the theatre, which is on Sir Lloyd Drive off the Pakuranga Highway.
Unwanted former props as well as household items, such as a coffee table, a set of new chairs and two chests of drawers, will be on offer.
Some of the more unusual items include a four-foot tall Aussie Santa, a portrait of KFC’s Colonel Sanders and a large wooden cut-out of the front of a car called Bob.
