A Summer Mix is opening at the Monterey Art Gallery in Howick today.Local artist Caren Thompson will present her work in conjunction with Jane Puckey and Jill Perrott of Auckland, and Sue Schaare of Napier.

She is the recent recipient of a bursary to study at the International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture, in Umbria, Italy. She has exhibited successfully in Auckland and Wellington and also sells her work internationally.Jane Puckey has worked as a full-time artist since 2001. Her work featured in the 12 Contemporary Artists calendar in 2006 with her My Land image on the front cover. In the same year, her work was included in A Painted Country, a book on New Zealand landscape artists.Hawke’s Bay artist Sue Schaare regularly attends concerts of classical, jazz or rock music and sketches and transfers her interpretations onto canvas.Her works are represented in private and corporate collections throughout New Zealand and overseas and she is the recipient of five merit awards.Since her first exhibition in 1997, Jill Perrott has had a series of solo exhibitions in a range of galleries throughout the country. She has won many People’s Choice awards and the Waitakere Licensing Trust Award several times.
