MUCH-loved daytime concerts are back and better than ever this year, with some new venues and young talent to boot.
Romanian-born soprano Alex Ioan is just one of the stars appearing in Operatunity’s first show — From Broadway to West End, featuring well-known favourites and some new gems from the hit shows of famous theatre districts.
Ms Ioan, who started performing with Operatunity last year, says the difference with these shows comes down to the audience.
“I love Operatunity’s audiences because they enjoy the concerts so much,” she says.
“They are probably the most appreciative audience I have ever sung to.”
At just 24, Ms Ioan has gained a masters in music from University of Auckland, and is an emerging artist with New Zealand Opera for this year.
After being crowned top group at last year’s Variety Artist Club awards, Operatunity’s concerts will dazzle and delight audiences from Whangarei to Invercargill.
The themed concerts comprise of timeless tunes and offer audiences a chance to interact with the artists by sharing lunch with them after the shows.
